Welcome to another school year and changes in the library. This year our primary grades will have the usual fixed schedule with read alouds and lessons. Intermediate classes are on a flexible schedule based on class needs. Library skill lessons being offered will be posted on my calendar making it easier for teachers to see, plan, and schedule classes for collaborative projects and lessons. Also, on my monthly calendar you will see times that I am scheduled to be out of the building, at team meetings, and other events of importance. Roadmaps, team meetings, and grade level request will be used to prepare materials, provide grade level support, and to plan collaborative lessons. However, you are always welcome to make additional request.
Intermediate teachers may bring their class to the library on a fixed day and time each week with the understanding they will only come for materials check-out. Those teachers who prefer a more flexable schedule may send 1-2 students at a time to the library for self-checkout during class computer times, or short weeks due to holidays and as needed to meet student and curriculum needs with the understanding that every student be allowed to visit the library at least one time each week.
The hourly calendar is being set up to allow for the selection of preferred library times while still allowing me to meet my requirements.
The first week of school I am requesting that all classes meet with me for a library orientation.
